Give and get support around quitting

Why am I afraid to give up two cigarettes?

My quit date is March 23rd.  In the beginning of March my non-smoking sister suggested that I pick a time each day that I would absolutely not smoke for example driving my car.   I chose all day all night that I would not smoke.  Since March 9th I have two cigarettes in the morning and then I don’t smoke all day all night. In the 10 days that I’ve been doing this I had one slip up and smoked a ciggarette in the evening. I am using the patch. I put it on after the two cigarettes in the morning.  I am really freaking out over the thought of giving up those two cigarettes in the morning.  I am more fearful of giving those two cigarettes up then I am not smoking all day all night how crazy is that? Any suggestions?

Thank you Sheri, this site is awesome.  My breathing is already improved. I have not coughed in the morning in several days. I forgot what it felt like to have clear lungs and I anticipate more improvements.  The body is an amazing thing.  I have prayed for help with this. Prayer works!!!!!!

may I suggest to avoid the lanai in the morning and create a new routine, perhaps taking a short walk around the block or working in your garden.  Remove the association.  Thoroughly clean the area and perhaps place a potted plant or grow tomatoes, those thingies that hang.  Create that new routine.  you'll be dropping those two cigarettes in no time

I always sit in the same chair on the lanai. I think your right about avoiding it for a time.  When I get home from work today I am going to rearrange the furniture out there.  I don’t even want to have to walk by the chair I smoked in every day as I come and go from my house.  Thank you

If I could smoke only 2 cigarettes a day!!  I would be elated!!  Problem is it would lead to more....   Or maybe just one more;  Das" not good"!

So kick  the two" to the curb!

Thank you for your kind support.  I smoked the last one this morning about 6:30am. It was stale and tasted horrible.  It was the last one in the pack. I used a metal container with a lid to throw my cigarette butts in.  I threw container in the garbage along with the empty  pack.

Don't "give up" those 2 Sickerettes - release them!

Don't "quit smoking" - embrace Recovery!

Put your patch on when you first put you feet on the ground in the morning...Do your routine and then enjoy a nice straw that has been cut to the right length...Draw in the wonderful fresh clean air and inhale as deep as you can...Your lungs miss that in and out movement (mine seemed to) Holding the fresh air feels good and you will you!!  Keep up the great job...
