@lorihagan Welcome to the Ex.  Glad you found us.  You can quit for good by learning how to do this and having support from fellow quitters.

Educate yourself about nicotine addiction and create a quit plan.  Many have found success with knowledge and preparation.   It took me 50 years and many attempts to finally get it. I went into my quits blindly and was never successful.  In addition to some aids, I found the Ex a week prior to my quit.  For the first time I learned how to quit and had the support that was always lacking.

This link is a great place to start.

Make the commitment and you can do this too.  We're here to support you on your journey.  So reach out anytime you need help, want to share your experience or to support fellow quitters. We're all in this together.

Join many  of us on the Daily Pledge.  It's a great way to stay on track on day at a time.

Look forward to celebrating your quit date.

Stay busy and stay close.

Good for you on your four year quit--you succeeded for a reason. That you eventually went back to smoking is not all that uncommon--because as quitters we can so easily get complacent, start believing that one won't hurt. You say you want to quit for good, but I have a very different take on the idea of quitting for good. It's really about quitting for one day at a time, smobering up--learning to make oneself accountable to one's decision to quit. The only way to know if you or any of us are going to quit for good is to not smoke, then finally die. That's the only way I'll know...keeping my quit one day at a time has worked for me for over a decade. Many quitters will say the same. It's the excuses that will get any of us in trouble and how can we learn to disarm excuses except by taking quitting seriously one day at a time. It's not a dumb slogan, it's the reality. You know how to quit, now you have a group where you can learn and practice ways of avoiding addiction traps.

Thanks for telling your story. Welcome to Ex.
