Any musicians?

Hey ya'll. Any musician's in this community? I play electric guitar, bass, and drums. Mostly rock and a little jazz. My biggest fear is when I'm able to go out and gig again after COVID lets up I will be tempted to smoke. Gigging = Socialising = Drinking (moderately!) = Smoking. Ack!

I can relate. I went out to see a wonderful band it was chill and the drummer asked if I wanted to sing. I got a zoom call with other musicians and played my original music and now I'm setting up a music studio in my basement and singing but BUT BUT!!!!!..... if I light up I cannot breathe, I get winded, I canNOT fill my lungs up with air but can hold a note very long so I don't know what that's all about... I study music, voice, theatre, it's my love and I'm in this place I'm receiving so many great things from it so just 1 a day is just 1 too much now.

I have been an ex smoker for some time now and a phrase I read really helped me to not only not smoke but not drink either.  "The drinking bone is connected to the smoking bone."  So I don't drink anymore.  I am not a musician but if I was I probably wouldn't play in many bars because the temptation is too strong.  Twitch.tv is a good community to play music and get your name out there, but it's not for everyone I guess.  You quit smoking you should stay quit.  You've already completed the hard part (quitting the first 2 weeks) it's all downhill from there.  Good Luck.

In answer to your question:  yes.  There are several here who play music.

Here's a new song for you...

If you click on the red NOPE SONG link in the blog below you'll hear the tune.

Now it's up to you to write your own.  I'm sure yours will be a great rock version.

Hello S-Dragon,

Yes there are musicians here! Well actually I am a female vocalist, and toured the entire West Coast with my band Passage  back in the day. I am alot older now but still love to go out and jam with bands. I sing rock music, some country, but pretty partial to Rock n Roll.  I have a very bad issue with COPD and was recently diagnosed with sever predominate Emphysema.

I am hoping that my lung function will improve after quitting so I can get the air back that I used to have, or at least better than it is right now. Anyway, I hope you stay strong in your quit. And when you get back out to Jam again just ignore the drinking and smoking, take a walk outside.

Something that may help with lung function re Emphysema: a harmonica.  Just an idea.

I'm not really a musician . I enjoy playing guitar and singing . I used to smoke before and after singing and in between sets . Now I don't even think about it .. it's freedom . You will love not smoking . I promise . It will take work to get there , but it's worth it .
