Today sucked. I am overworked and underpaid like many people I know and work is my trigger. I crave cigarettes the most when I am at work and I have realized it isn't the smoking, it is the breaks I take to smoke. Non-smokers aren't religious about taking breaks at work. When you have an addiction gnawing at you, taking a break is compulsive. We never miss a break to smoke so cigarettes become our escape. But we don't need cigarettes to be the excuse because EVERYONE deserves a break. Starting tomorrow I am going to set a reminder on my phone for my breaks. I won't smoke, but I will get up from my desk and walk away for the entire 15 minutes I am entitled to twice a day. The nicotine buzz sure helps to clear your mind, but so does walking away from the stress, drama and chaos and just breathing non-toxic, nicotine free air.
