Living with a Smoker

I recently moved into a new place with a friend of mine who is a current smoker. He has expressed interest in quitting, but I don't think he is ready yet, as he is going through a difficult time in his life. My quit date is tomorrow, the 1st of the month. How have you dealt with living with a smoker when trying to quit?
