I'm sorry I didn't see anyone's comments, if any, on my last blog titled " quitting is hard enough". I'm on my stupid phone and the delete option is WAY too close to the comments....
Congratulations on your personal integrity and awesome quit Mel!
Smoking means re-setting your quit clock and beginning day one…it is not an opinion it is a fact…When someone smokes it means they let their addict brain take over…HOW many decisions went into picking up a cigarette again? Entertaining the ‘internal debate’ for a while…then getting the car keys…driving to the store…going in…buying the pack…driving home or lighting up right then…We are talking about personal response-ability here…Our relapse rate on EX has increased this past year so it is important to be strong about the reality of this deadly addiction! YES we want to be kind and loving but we MUST be honest and not sugar coat the addiction…this is a matter of life and death…xo
Thank you, i see what you mean, I wasn't looking at the WHOLE picture... I agree with what you are saying. Maybe it would be a good idea if when a person joins EX this fact is explained to them right off the bat... If you smoke/slip even one puff then you should reset your clock. Then no argument or negativity.
The delete button is way to close to other buttons on the phone version! Joy explained the community norms very well. When I got here almost two years ago I read a blog about this very issue so I knew almost from the start that one puff meant day one all over again. You are right, it should be communicated to people before they smoke. It seems like it comes up so often and can cause conflict.
