Just an FYI:  I just discovered that if you put in a paren (  prior to the @ symbol, you will not be presented with the normal pop up list of possibilities.  I was attempting to "at" mention someone at the beginning of a parenthetical clause.  Examples below:

Interesting.  I couldn’t get anything to appear if I put them next to each other. Not even content.  If I left a space between it worked as expected.
