I remember

I remember well the first few months of my quit.  It seems like the thought of smoking was always on my mind-night and day.  I could not really escape it even in my sleep.  Now even though the thought was there, I knew that I did not really want to smoke.  I came to this site and other sites everyday and read about  other peoples success stories.  I knew that if I stuck it out that eventually it would get better - and it did.  And now, if and when the occasional thought of smoking crosses my mind, I simply remind myself that I never have to go thru the hell of withdrawal again.  You can get there too, just give it the time that it takes!

I am a 63 year old single woman. I quit smoking at 55 and my only regret is that I did not quit sooner. Freedom from cigarettes is truly a wonderful feeling!
