" Sure there are birds who can hang upside down from a branch and eat, but the flamingo can only eat with its head upside down. Whereas most birds have a larger upper bill and a lower bill that can move, flamingos are the opposite. They feed by using their feet to stir up shrimp, algae, and other tasty treats from the bottom of the water. Then they lower their heads. The unusual shape makes it easier to eat via a method known as filter feeding. Their tongue pumps water in and out of their mouths, carrying in food and then flushing away the remaining water."
