Give and get support around quitting
Hello everyone. I was thinking about a anecdote that I once heard and I really appreciated remembering because it fits very well into my journey to be smoke free.
One day a man fell into a hole.
He looked up as people were walking by.
He yelled, "Help me I fell into this hole".
A lawyer passed by and looked down.
He said to the man as he threw down a business card, "Call me when you get out".
The man was not happy and kept pleading for help from passersby.
Another person came by. He was a clergyman.
"Help me I fell into this hole."
The clergyman said, "I will pray for you".
The man was getting tired.
He looked up and saw another man looking down at him.
"Please", he said. "I fell in this hole and I can't get out. Help me please."
The next thing that happened surprised the man in the hole. The man looking down jumped in.
"What did you do that for? Now we are both in this hole."
The other man looked at him with gentle smiling eyes.
"Don't worry", he said. "I have been here before I will show you the way out".
The people in this community are helping me out of the hole I am in. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
