Welcome to Ex!!!! Congratulations on your decision to quit. Quitting is all about your attitude. If you truly want to quit then you will. While I was smoking my very last cigarette,  I took it slow and acknowledged the fact that it was the last time I would ever smoke. Although we are here for you any time you need us, you and only you are responsible for your quit. There are no “slip ups”, only conscious decisions.

Stay out of your head. If you are thinking about cigarettes you’re going to want to smoke. You are going to experience all kinds of crazy. I suggest you read, read and read. It will give you a lot of comfort knowing what you are feeling is normal and will end. I googled a lot also.

Everyone on this site has or is going thru the same thing you are. Our stories are all different but we are all addicts. You can so totally do this. Stay strong and amazing as you can so do this!!!

P.S. A lot of the elders live back east (therefore snoozing) so please don’t think that you are being ignored...

Welcome to EX, you have gotten great advice.  Education about this addiction is so important, as is support and you can find both of those here.  Commitment has to come from you.  I did not use the patch, I did not use anything but I have nothing against quit smoking aides...I know many people who have successfully quit using the patch.  I think Jennifer-Quit‌ is one and JonesCarpeDiem‌ has a GREAT story about HIS experience with the patch.

You CAN do this and we are all very willing to help you in any way that we can.  We WANT you to succeed.
