BACK TO NORMAL.jpg

WHAT IS NORMAL?

I WAS IN NURSING HOMES & hospitals

FOR 14 of the past 18 WEEKS.

DO YOU KNOW HOW LIFE CHANGING THAT IS?

I ACTUALLY **** A DIAPER MORE THAN ONCE!!!

I got home Friday and just cooked my first from scratch meal yesterday.

IT TOOK ME TEN TIMES AS LONG TO MAKE CHICKEN DIVAN BECAUSE I HAD TO SIT AND RECOVER SO MANY TIMES.

"YOU ARE DESCENDING...WE CONTROL THE HORIZONTAL...WE CONTROL THE VERTICAL....  "YOU'RE THE ONE IN THE DIAPER".....

I had a bunch of plumbing work done during my second hospital stay and had a foley catheter for a month. I was inspired to write the lyrics to a unrinary masterpiece...here goes (it's to the tune of smoke smoke smoke that cigarette by phil harris (look it up on youtube)

Pee pee pee like you can't resist

Try to get it all out take a **bleep**, take a **bleep**

If you don't keep at it friend,

well, you might not **bleep** again

so pee pee pee go take that **bleep**

I have been shopping twice. I go at 6 and use an electric cart (or go home pissed because they were broken or in use.)

life is tough

but smoking will kill you!

"I don't do that anymore."

Chicken Divan

Break up and cook 2 pounds of broccoli crowns al dente

Cook three large chicken breasts, cool, cut into pieces/chunks

Mix 1 can of condensed cream of mushroom soup with one can condensed cream of chicken soup and 3/4 cup of mayo and 2 or 3 T of curry powder. (The curry powder is the deal maker)

Lay broccolli in 9 x 13 pan or baking dish,

Spread chicken chunks evenly over broccoli crowns,

pour soup misturs over both

Spread 8oz grated cheese over top and

bake at 350 for 35 minutes

Hoping things get easier and better for you now that you are home...I can't imagine what you've been through. Sending good thoughts and prayers your way. You have been missed!❤️❤️

We had a local band in the 70s who did that song as a signature encore every gig. ("Gig" being small local dive bars.) Great fun in smoke-filled rooms. Sucks to have to pay for that *bleep* now.

@YoungAtHeart

Obviously not. This is my 4th round of antibiotics.

Oh no @JonesCarpeDiem . I'm sorry you are still dealing with the infection ... I had this issue as well for a long time until they learned my immune system wasn't  working like the normal persons . Any Infections I get need more antibiotic that the average person and sometimes it can also take several rounds and IVs.  Hope in your case that they can find out the reason so many rounds is still not clearing your infection up . This all must have been horribly painful and sounds like younare still  dealing with pain .The good news is that you got to eat a home cooked meal . The recipe looks delicious . I will have to try it . Thanks for sharing that with us and the song ..

Keep writing

Are you able to pull out your guitar and sit comfortably enough for any length of time ? Music always heals .

I went and got gas ($5.25 a gallon) this morning. Someone ran into my brothers Prius with a Tesla and Tesla called it irrepairable even though it was only the right rear door. Go figure. Anyway, my sister in law can't drive a stick shift so they borrowed my truck fr a few weeks until their new car arrived. I then went to one of my regular stores and did some shopping and was home by 6:30.

I needed a haircut very badly so I went out again at 9:30 and did that and stopped for an Rx and a YUGE (5lb) rotisserie chicken.

After I got home I was looking for a place I could sit comfortably to whack and bag up the chicken. I set the chicken down somewhere? When I sat down on ny chair, I found it.

Hoggie's drooling and crying fowl but it's too hot to cut up.

.....and so we wait

Oh my, what an ordeal. But glad you're back here and writing songs and cooking delicious things. Remember that song "Been down so long looks like up to me"? Came to mind a few days ago...keep looking up, friend!

I so identify with you with the constant hurt and pain.  AND the 24/7 pain that came with my hip surgery and stays in my foot.  It’s been 11 months for me and I get to go to another pain specialist tomorrow again. It takes a very long time to even get a hair better, and took me many drugs to keep going. I now use a walker on every level of my house and A cane.  🙏 that your recovery will come sooner rather than later.

@JonesCarpeDiem I stopped by today after years away, maybe because my 11 year quit-aversary is coming up, or maybe to see this post of yours and say

You Rock, Buddy!

@JonesCarpeDiem  You have been on my mind. I am praying right now that your infection will clear up ASAP!

Your determination and sense of humor are beneficial in such situations as you now find yourself and yet one can't help saying "Enough is enough.!"

About the Author
Hello, My name is Dale. I was quit 18 months before joining this site and had participated on another site during that time. I learned a lot there and brought it with me. I joined this site the first week of August 2008. I didn't pressure myself to quit. HOW I QUIT I didn't count, I didn't deny myself to get started. When I considered quitting (at a friends request to influence his brother to quit), I simply told myself to wait a little longer. No denial, nothing painful. After 4 weeks I was down to 5 cigarettes from a pack a day. The strength came from proving to myself, I didn't need to smoke because I normally would have smoked. Simple yes? I bought the patch. I forgot to put one on on the 4th day. I needed it the next day but the following week I forgot two days in a row I put one in my wallet with a promise to myself that I would slap it on and wait an hour rather than smoke. It rode in my wallet my first year. There's nothing keeping any of you from doing this. It doesn't cost a dime. This is about unlearning something you've done for a long time. The nicotine isn't the hard part. Disconnecting from the psychological pull, the memories and connected emotions is. :-) Time is the healer.
