Share your quitting journey
Hi, everyone!
I just came back from Las Vegas from a four night trip with roughly 25 days of freedom under my belt and thought I would share what it was like.
So, once a year, I try to get myself to Vegas just to take in shows and do a small amount of gambling. This year's trip was planned months in advance - back at a time when I smoked. After stopping smoking on December 1st, I was worried a little bit.
Would it be too much? Would it be too triggery? Would I cave?
Well, it turned out everything was just fine! I loved not having to plan everything around smoking, from arriving at the airport, to getting off the plane (and running to smoke) to staying in a high floor room (meaning I didn't need to be near the ground to run out and "burn one".
Was it hard being around a bunch of people who smoked when going through the casinos? To be honest, it was not! In fact, I was able to observe just how NASTY it all smelled and looked. The only triggery thing for me were the large meals, but I quickly learned NOT to eat big meals. Between my patch and the gum, it all worked out OK.
And so now I am back home from this trip, feeling really good that I returned as I had left - a non-smoker. To me, that was the best Christmas gift of all. 😀
Have you done any traveling as a non-smoker? What was it like? Love to hear your experiences.
Best,
John
