Three Days In

First, I want to thank the people on this site who reached out to me in friendship, hope, and guidance.  You have already made me feel at ease and given me great resources and advice.  I spent last night reading the very uplifting suggested book by Allen Carr, The Easy Way to Quit, and I woke up this morning feeling good about myself for the first time in a very long time.

So many things surprise me.  I have not had anywhere near the number of desires to smoke as I had the first two days and the passion for lots of white foods/carbs seems to have passed.  I am not letting down my guard, just expressing interest in the difference even a couple of days can make.  I can taste the "sour" in my favorite sourdough bread again and the vanilla in the graham crackers.  I don't need as much sugar in my coffee because I can taste it more.  And I'm writing, something I've been unable to bring myself to do since somewhere back in May.  I don't think quitting smoking is entirely responsible for that, but perhaps it provided a crack in the depression that led me to this place that allows me to express without fear of boring people what I'm thinking and feeling.

Today I am happy to be alive and happy to have come this far.

Grey1.  How did I miss your first blog?  Must have come in over the weekend.  My kids grounded me from the computer for being such a fun dad!  They insisted if I was going to be that much fun, then I had to play with them and not with my computer.  Just as well.  Day three is the charm anyway, or so they say.

Keep up the good work.  Your body should be nearly free of nicotine by now.  Finally, after all those years, 100% organic again!  Yeah you!

Now just keep counting them up, stay busy, stay committed, be willing and remember the lies, because they may stalk you for a while.  We are nicotine 911, so if they ever get so bad that you feel your quit is jeopary, just log on and holler for help.  We'll send emergency personal asap.

Success up your sleeve.  Be quit, be well, and be free.

Congratulations on 3 days.  I have been on this site for almost ten months and by now I can sense when someone is serious about their quit and is willing to do what it takes to be free.  You are one of them. No excuses. Nope not one puff ever.

Congratulations, Grey -- You are definitely in the right place.  I also read the Allen Carr book when my quit was very new, and about 3 weeks in I read it again as a reinforcement of my baby quit.  I'm now 321 days into my quit (coming up on a year, YAY) and I was a heavy smoker for 53 years.  The combination of education (the Carr book and information posted here and on whyquit.com, and this community has made all the difference in the world to me.  You can so DO this!!

Oh my gosh you sound amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!! With that kind of lovely attitude and positivity on day three I am just thrilled for you!

This site is truly a Godsend and the friendships and support are what makes the difference that is for sure.

On November 5th I celebrated 3 years of freedom form cigarettes because of the help I received here on EX. Stick close, keep blogging about your journey and never think we are bored it is just so wonderful to watch a new person find their life again. Tasting things is one of the best benefits for me as well!! xo
