I can only speak for myself but sometimes I get to typing fast and make boo boos. No nothing special.
I believe it's an "emoticon." You know, yahoo smilie faces, or laughing face, or... some such. For some reason it doesn't show up as the face, it's just coming out at the code for the face. Maybe your browswer doesn't support it.
May actually not be a Yahoo emoticon but some other progam's emoticon.
