The trouble with future quit dates

So, last time my motto was "why not today?"

And I didn't set a date. I just did it.

Granted, without patch or lozenge, which I now regret and won't repeat.

So I used the quit plan, which strongly suggested a quit date no sooner than 10 days ahead.

Oct 23 is my plan.

But you should hear my nicotine receptors!!

"Better smoke up NOW for tomorrow (Oct23) WE DIE!!!

Puff puff puff and panic!

I know my brain. Tapering is not an option. I'm either a smoker or not...no grey area.

So, other than completing my preparatory education and finishing Carr, why wait for date of doom Oct 23?

(Doom is my receptors' choice of words.)

I plan to have many Alpha Dog things to say back to my brain soon. Some of them the wise words mentioned often here..and a few choice foul-mouthed ones of my own!

So, thoughts?  Stop day after finishing Carr with patches on hand?

Or more time to mount my best defense?
