Share your quitting journey
As many of you know, I’ve been stuck on crutches, no weight bearing allowed, for 4 weeks now. This is to heal a “stress reaction” in my left hip — that’s like half an inch away from a stress fracture. It’s been quite painful and totally aggravating.
Yesterday I had my first bone density scan. The results showed that I have indeed lost some bone density in my hip. Now, I am older, post menopausal, etc., all risk factors, but SMOKING is a cause of bone density loss, too. The nicotine interferes with the body’s ability to build new bone.
Bone loss affects both women and men, and you don’t have to be over 60 for it to happen. But if you want another reason to quit, this is a good one.
Public service announcement from “Hop along” here, lol.
Cheers, Terry
