For those of you interested in playing Trivia, this is notice that the newest weekly game has been posted. If you care to play, just click here and you will be taken directly to the page: WEEKLY TRIVIA FOR 01.11.2022  😊

As I noted in the post's title, I have earned yet another week free of cigarettes. Since I am still relatively new to this leg of my quit, I'm finding it most helpful to PLAN on being "clean" for each new installment of this game's post. In other words, I have been totally clean of cigarettes now for 126 days. That equals exactly 18 weeks FREE as I began posting this game on my first day of return from my summer relapse which was purposely on a Tuesday. (Back when I titled the game Trivia Tuesday, which ended up being confusing to many players as the title seemed to indicate that the game was to be played on Tuesday of each week only.)

But I still stick to Tuesday as my posting goal date as it coincides with the day of the week that I quit and therefore carries significance for me.

As those of you who follow me know, the first week of this month was a tough one for me. But by sticking to my quit plan and with sharing my struggle, I made it to the other side. And I'm so thankful to you, my EX family, for caring about what I was going through and for sending me encouragement and support. You guys are terrific!

On Monday of this week, I went into the hospital as an outpatient for a routine surgical procedure to monitor an ongoing health issue of mine- in fact, one shared by my Mom whose death occurred as a direct result of the issue. Unfortunately, she was not aware of the medical problem she was harboring and by the time her condition was diagnosed, a cancerous melanoma had spread and become fatal. So far, all my biopsies have come back negative over a 10 year span and I expect the same this time. (In fact, my surgeon expressed encouragement that all looked well; the biopsy results will be back in two weeks.)

What a relief to have reached yet another Tuesday without having not even one puff of the nicotine delivery system that kept me trapped for more than 60 years!!

I hope your quit has gone well this week also and -- if not-- that you are reaching out for help. Hold on. Hang in there. Together, we CAN do this.

Prior to my first quitting on 8/25/2019, I was a heavy smoker for over 60 years. That time, I quit due to health concerns regarding clogged arteries to my brain. Tar deposits from cigarettes were making the situation worse. I had become a prime candidate for a stroke and required surgery to clean out my left carotid artery. I have relapsed 4X since that quit, the last one being on 05.15.2022. ( At one point in all of this madness, I had been quit for 1.5 years). Then on 9/7/2021 I began my recent eight month quit before my current relapse. I am in the process of planning a return to the non-smoking life. After more than 2 weeks of smoking, wheezing and coughing and being short of breath, I have set my new quit date of June 1, 2022 as the beginning of my forever quit. I am done with this madness!! God is good.
