So happy, but a bit staggered!

I am so happy to say that today is my two-week milestone!! I'm just thrilled. This is my Best Quit EVER - I've just decided not to whine about it or feel upset or deprived. I'm just GOING for it, and that's it.  Best attitude I've ever had on a quit (which is why this one's gonna stick!). Work has been crazy-busy the last week, which has been a blessing; haven't had time to sit around and think about smoking (or to be specific: think about Not Smoking).

Here's the staggering part - I downloaded a quit calculator. GOOD GRIEF CHARLIE BROWN - I have not smoked TWO HUNDED AND TEN cigarettes since I quit. I'm just appalled. I mean - I'm glad, hurray, haven't smoked them, but I'm just horrified by how much I smoked. Two days added to my life. 83 bucks saved!! WOAH! As I said: staggering.

I've been trying to replace the old habit with good things instead. Happy to say I've discovered the treadmill that's been in our basement for two years. My husband used it, but I never did.. and now, I've found a nice walk on it is a great substitute for the early morning and after work "gimmes."  Makes me feel like there's something to look forward to, and really trying to make it a new, strong habit.

Stray observations - definitely have to stay on top of this and won't get cocky. I still have those quick moments of "junkie thinking" where I can easily picture myself with a stick in my mouth. I dismiss that thought, but it comes so suddenly and so strongly! It's a little scary.  So, as Mad Eye Moody would say: CONSTANT VIGILANCE!

Thanks to this wonderful exFamily for being so supportive - and, for all of you, putting your money where you mouth is and doing it yourselves. That's what makes this such an incredible place.

Love, hugs and constant vigilance!
- Kate

Excellent. I'm very happy for you and your attitude.

Great for finding new ways to step away from the thoughts.

If you want to be REALLY staggered. I have not smoked 21,775 since I quit - that's enough to knock you over, no?

Replacing the old junkie thinking with NEW thinking and new, healthy activities is the way to success.  Good for you!

Congratulations on TWO weeks!
