Low Dose Chest CT Scan

I just wanted to update anyone who remembered that I was having a CT scan to rule out early signs of lung cancer, I called my doctor’s office three times after calling the CT Services office and being told that the san was read on August 21st.  My doctor’s NURSE called and left a quick message on my phone saying that she would make sure the doctor knew that I wanted the results and that I should get a call very soon.  That was on Friday.  I never got a call but I DID get a letter from the Lung Cancer Screening Program thanking me for my participation.

The results are:  “…no sign of lung cancer, however, there is a finding on your exam that is not suspicious for lung cancer but may require further evaluation…it should not be ignored.”  “Please contact your health care provider to discuss these results and the next step in your medical care.”  I TRIED.  I work Monday and Tuesday and cannot get calls at work because no cell phones work in the building, they cut out.  I guess I will either hear from them after work or Wednesday.  I have an echocardiogram scheduled at the same facility on Friday.  I have to assume that this is nothing “urgent” or they would have contacted me.  I am not impressed with this practice and will likely be moving on to a different one, after I tell them why.  The recommendation is that I have another scan in a year, if there was a significant finding of a nodule or something, they would likely recommend three months.

Hope everyone is well, my youngest daughter is visiting from NYC, she went to a downtown festival today, ate dinner a little while ago and is off to an outdoor theater for a concert.  Tomorrow, she and I are going to see “Ricki and the Flash” because we tend to see ALL of Meryl Streep’s movies together. She wanted to go at night but I reminded her that I have to work Mon and Tues, hence, get up really early and I do not do well with limited sleep so we are going in the afternoon.

I hope everyone is having a great weekend a great SMOKEFREE weekend.

Hi Ellen.  I think that  is good news, No cancer. Maybe the finding is a fractured rib which you already know of.  Enjoy  "Ricky and the  Flash."  I want to see it too.  Enjoy your week-end.

My father had what I believe called nodules not cancerous as of now. They think it is scar tissue. I haven't been on theis site in a year I shouldn't have waited too long to come back. I can't imagine living near or in NYC!  I live in the country. Cotton planted in front of me and a creek to the left.

Our hospital has a patient portal. I was able to get my report on my health page and knew the results and size of a cyst I had in my ovary and what my knee X-ray showed days before the docs called. Unfortunately I lost where I wrote the password down and will have to call them to set it back up. Does your health place you went to offer that?

my docs office also have a health portal and I will usually be emailed back by the end of the day.  Refills, visit summaries, and make appointments. My doctor loves technology so I don't know how many places do this now.

i hope you are correct that it isn't urgent please update so we will know and best of luck if you switch medical facilities.

I was supposed to see that movie on Tuesday, but my friend hurt her ankle and when we rescheduled the times didn't work.  Let me know how you like it!

Rest well tonight ---- and GREAT news on the test.  I'm glad you didn't smoke over the difficulty in getting the results.

Can you call on your cell phone on your break?

Ellen - I am so glad that there is no sign of cancer. I certainly hope that you are able to communicate with the doctor soon about whatever it is that needs further evaluation. It does sound like you need a new doctor after moving past this.

Please take care and enjoy the movie!

Our prayers were partially answered! No Cancer for now! What might be going on - well, continued prayers for you, Ellen! The idea of using a portal is a good one. Mine is called myhealthconnection and like Sam I get results quickly and accurately. Please keep us updated!

It's sometimes hard too read test results on your health link so you have too wait on your Dr's office too call back, you can easily read things that are not there or miss important things you don't understand.
