How to Control of Your Attitude and Stay Positive

I just read this article on PsychCentral and I wanted to post it here so I don't forget it.  The title of the article is 6 Strategies to Take Control of Your Attitude and Stay Positive.  I've always known that our attitude is extremely important and that it is what determines our outlook on life and how people view us from the outside.

You rarely see a person that's happy that has a negative attitude.  I don't think someone with a negative attitude can be happy because all they see is the negative in everything.  Personally, I stay away from negative peopole because they just bring you down!

"Attitude is directly related to whether or not you will live a happy, meaningful, and energized life."

One of the reasons I avoid the news is because most of it is negative.  It's about who was murdered, car accidents and a bunch of other bad stuff.   I quit reading the newspaper because of that too.  Even when I tried not to read the bad headlines, my eyes would eventually drift there and the next thing I know I'd be reading about crimes that happend in my city.

At any rate, it is past midnight here and I'm really tired.  Thanks for reading 🙂

I try to stay positive too. There are times in our lives when we do think a negative thought but it must be turned into a positive one. I quit watching news, newspapers etc too. i do read some yahoo news at times but its on a rare occasion. It upsets me to read how people are treating others these days. Well enough about that. Thank you posting this blog and have a wonderful weekend!

We all have negative as Well as positive thoughts. The difference is what you hook onto. We can let go of the thought the minute it appears or bond to it attaching emotion and narrative. Once we learn how to let go we can manifest a positive attitude without denying all of our thoughts and feelings.

Greetings John-

I have insulated myself from most news for quite sometime now.  I get the New York Times on Sunday but skim over the most of it for the most part and then enjoy the arts/travel section.  Too much news for me is heart wrenching and because I have a tendency to become preoccupied with certain sad images/articles it just gives me more reason to jump into bad habits.  I will listen to BBC at times.  Cheers to you and thanks for the article.

Hey John!

I never watch the news or read the newspaper. I am a highly sensitive soul and will join any prayer circle or global meditation for world peace but no way do I want to hear the 5 o’clock daily horror films. The world is a place full of hate & crime. The world is a place full of the extraordinary beauty of humanity. I focus on the latter. A positive attitude for me comes from paying attention to what I FOCUS on. One of the laws of physics that govern our existence is ‘Like attracts like’. You are instinctively doing this already. As it happens there is a global meditation for world peace tomorrow. It is at 12pm Pacific Standard Time. On Facebook alone 40,000 people have signed on from all over the world to participate. I am imagining all the energy of those heartbeats focusing on ‘peace’…I hope you will join in…read about it…

Thanks to all you guys that posted a message.  The responsive of this community is amazing.  I seriously appreciate the effort.

I'm glad I'm here and meeting so many nice people.  Someone asked which part of the Bay Area I live in.  I live in San Francisco.

I did live for a little while in Redwood City, but I came back to the city by the bay 🙂
