Attitudes and actions

I take a long walk during my lunch break every day.  I usually listen to a podcast, but yesterday I needed to be in my own head and walk off some frustration.

I got to thinking about actions versus attitude in changing behaviors.  I was going through a mental loop of which drives which.

I can think of times where I changed my ACTIONS which lead to a change in attitude.  My walks at lunch at a perfect example of this.  I hated, just HATED going for a walk.  I needed to find something to do at lunch that wasn’t smoking or shopping,  and walking was the only thing left.  After much grumbling and an excess of stomping, walking at lunch became a habit and now I feel cheated if I don’t get my 30 minutes in.  Action changed attitude.

Then I think that the reason I chose to walk was because I created an attitude that not smoking was more important than any other consideration.

I am not sure where that leaves me in my philosophical musings.  But I got 6,500 steps, so maybe it doesn’t even matter.
