Mint plant?

I purchased this plant today.  Care instructions say indoor sunny spot and snip top leaves for usage.  However, my sister has one in her flower bed that is a perennial.  I think I may try both indoor and outdoor.  Any tips?  This is my very first one. I would like for it to thrive for a long time.  Maybe put it in a bigger pot?

I have decided to put some outdoors in a large pot and have a small one in the kitchen window.  Thanks for the heads up  Seems I don't have to worry about it thriving.

Ditto the other's advice.  INVASIVE and will take over if left unchecked.  I was just given some Chocolate mint by the wife of the man who's been fixing up our house.  I gave her a bunch of transplants and she just brought me that and some Oregano and Thyme and Yellow Day Lillies.  By the way take a couple of leaves of the mint, crush them between your fingers and put in them in a jug of iced tea.  Extraordinary!

Thanks will try it in tea.  I am always buying mint for my detox drinks, thought this would be cheaper. I can't wait to get it potted.  Just came from nursery with an extra pot. Can't wait to see how it goes. Or is that grows?
