Not even a week ago, we moved into Fall. I would not have realized it had it not been for the Google Doodle as we were still having summer temps. I love the changing of the season, but this year it feels different. I had joined the EX Community shortly after the Great American Smokeout last year so I didn’t get to experience it in all its glory. Right from the start, I was curious when the high points during the year would be for people registering on EX to quit.
Not surprisingly, I saw numbers jump in the community as people signed up for their New Year’s resolutions and it continued through March. Then at the end of April we had a few days with a record number of new registrants but it quieted down by World No Tobacco Day on May 31st. At the end of June and end of August I saw some more record-setting days with a lot of registrants. It got quiet again for a week in September and then the daily registrations shot up for a week and a half before it dropped again.
The fluctuations are interesting to me, especially since they aren’t directly correlated with the big No Smoking/Tobacco campaigns that have taken place this year. As we get closer to the third Thursday in November, I will be watching to see if the numbers rise. It’s exciting as I envision these new members will be preparing themselves to go to Thanksgiving meals with friends and family on a path to being non-smokers or perhaps as non-smokers already. For all those who have quit previously, it’s ONE MORE YEAR. That is something to be thankful for.
AND if that wasn’t exciting enough, we’re also working on a new community to be launched around that time. A community that we think will provide improved usability for your journey to quit and to help others in their quit.
