   Hello, Everyone!

WARNING! some may not like me much after I lay this out! But here it goes!

We have many folks coming in that have been here before and a few new, that just can't seem to get it! We tell you all the stuff like education (read, read, read, we give you links and tell you Exactly where to find more information) We tell you that you will need to be willing to do whatever it takes, not to smoke. (keep the stinking things out of your mouth and away from your face). We tell you to be committed to your quit. (to promise not to smoke no matter what). We give you links to a featured group where you can go to make that pledge! We tell you that you will need determination!

We tell you to go to our pages and read our early blogs from when we struggled, just like you are. Our stories are there in those old blogs and on our profile pages, that is part of the education! We tell you to pick someone's quit that you like or want and follow that person, read what they say in blogs, and comments, we even tell you to snoop, look at what people say to one another on message boards (these are public, (if we don't want people to see it we'll put it in a private message). When many of us were new we came here every day and read blogs, and comments, and even though we were new we encouraged others, what you say to someone that is close to you in their quit can make a world of difference to them and to you!

Many of us have given out our phone numbers, in case you get in trouble, we tell you that before you smoke, come here and blog the word    HELP as the subject. Someone will come to talk you down!

We tell you it gets easier! It really does! We aren't lying to you, we are trying to help you!

When I was a kid, my Dad told me that there would not always be someone around to tell you NO! That being an adult takes self-discipline. He was right!

I smoked 50 times per day for 45 years! In order to stop doing that, I had to be    self-disciplined and tell myself   NO that many times per day and then wait, do whatever it took till that crave passed. Come on, folks a crave only lasts about 3 minutes. Have some    self-discipline! Say    NO! You wouldn't eat 10 pieces of cake, or eat 3 pizzas, or drink 20 bottles of soda, you just wouldn't want to do that because it will make you sick!    WAKE UP! SMOKING WILL KILL YOU!

I quit May 13, 2015. I was not prepared, I cold turkey and white knuckled it. I made it 5 days! I saw BF's smokes on the cabinet and I grabbed 'em! Crap! So I bought some zonnic gum and in  that package it gave becomeanex.org as one of the resources. So I came to EX. I started at the very beginning. I read all of the instructions. I set my quit date for July 6th, 2015. I tracked all my smokes, it's so easy all you have to do is type it in, it organizes it for you, so you can see when you smoke the most. Then do the trigger exercise, easy just type it all in and it will tell you what makes you smoke the most. Then I started blogging and commenting, (not knowing what I was talking about half the time haha!, but I tried and I learned more education) Hell, they had a bonfire 2 days before my quit date, I ask if I could come, Of course, I could come! This is EX! I had a blast, and joined right in even though I had no nasties to throw in! Nobody cared! This is EX! I never chewed that gum, but it was worth its weight in gold because it brought me to EX.

If you follow the directions and listen to the Elder's, you will be free, if you apply yourself! I hope you do! I care about you, and it saddens my heart to see so many having such a rough time. Mental illness is not an EXcuse, because, you name I've got it!

If this makes you mad, maybe you will wake up! It's honest and right from my heart! If this helps one person quit, then I'll be happy!

Sincerely, Terrie               247 days of freedom and loving every minute of it!

About the Author
Hello, I am a 59 year old female, name Terrie, still growing up. I have moderate COPD. I am an oxygen patient, currently not in need of the 24/7 or night time oxygen. Thanks to all the great support and education I got here on EX. My original quit date was 07/06/15 on day 519 I relapsed and started over in less than 24 hours. I want to go to the great beyond being a former smoker and I shall! COPD is not choosy! and not pretty! May 1rst, 2017 I am using Dale's suggestion to put off a cigarette each time and I am down from 50 to 20. I am looking forward to my old(7-6-2015)/new quit date 7-6-2017 May 4th, 2017 I started with Marlboro reds. Nicotine is a very assinine addiction. Once addicted I found I would smoke any of it including the little cigar/cigarettes, and it's still true since I threw away my quit and stopped being true to myself. I will smoke ANYTHING with nicotine in it to get the fix. I hate smoking! I am not having a problem stopping it's staying stopped, that I am not doing! I do not buy anything but regular tobacco but if caught without it I will do anything except vape to get the fix. UPDATE POSTED 04/24/2018: Getting ready to set a quit date and begin again :)
