Oh YUCK!

Two days ago, I had to go to Walmart for my hundred dollar “quick” stop shopping.  Getting there from our place requires taking a left to get into the parking lot and it is at a stoplight that is ALWAYS backed up with several cars.  You just wait.  After the person in the vehicle ahead of me tossed a cigarette out of his window onto the ground, I looked down and I was seriously SHOCKED at the number of butts that are on that stretch of highway.  I swear there are more cigarette butts than there are blades of grass.  I have been told that it takes 15 years for a filtered cigarette to break down in a landfill…these are “living” alongside of the road.  I think anyone who wants a cigarette should look down on the ground near a place where people have to wait in line or perhaps near an entrance to a place where smoking is not allowed.  Being a smoker is one thing, being a pig is another.  Did I, personally, ever toss a butt out of a window, yeah I did and I am thoroughly ashamed of that.  The place where I live enforces a littering law and people who get caught tossing a butt onto the road or the sidewalk within the city limits, are ticketed and fined $250. Apparently, it is not enforced out near Walmart.

Hope everyone has an amazing weekend.
