Carbon monoxide levels after 20 hrs-TRUTH!

So, I was reading about how, one of the FIRST benefits you'll have after you quit, is reduced carbon monoxide levels in your bloodstream.

The reading material says that your carbon monoxide level in your blood returns to normal within just 12 hrs after your last cigarette.

And guess what?  I think they're spot on, with that.  Here's why:

I am a runner.   (Yep, thats right.  DOUBLE shame on me for smoking.  I was like the only running smoker I know.) I'm not a marathoner or anything but I run anywhere from 6 to 15 miles a week now.

Anyway, today's weather was warmer and muggy.  By FAR my least favorite running weather.  So, I thought I'd just take it slow.  I set off at a really comfortable pace and just did an easy 2 miles. And I mean, it was EASY.  When I looked at my time...it was a full MINUTE faster than my fastest run in the past few months.  And it was TWO minutes faster than my average pace this last month.  And this was just a casual run!

Less carbon monoxide in my blood=More carbon DIoxide....My heart and muscles were getting more C02 and it really showed.

You know what else?  My run (and my walk afterwards) were about the ONLY half hr of my day that I didn't  think about a cig.  What a relief.  That half hour was a godsend.

Such a great testament to exercise!  It's a GREAT and healthy crutch!!
