Are You Ready?

So if you are contemplating quitting smoking, how do you know if you are ready? For me this was simple. I felt trapped in between that heart-pounding, always on edge, nervous feeling that comes from continued smoking, and the fear of the unknown that comes from starting a quit. When the "unknown" became a more viable option than living with the nervousness from smoking, it was time to leave the smoking behind. So how did I know I was ready? Simple, ask yourself, can you say no? Can you say no or is it more like "well, I'll try," or "I'll give it my best shot?" Until you can say no with confindence, you are not ready. You have a lot of tools at your disposal. You have tons of literature about quitting smoking on the internet. You have support sites like EX. You have books to read from Allen Carr and others. You have a community of a lot of people here who have been through the experience and can guide your journey with wisdom and give you confidence. So what are you waiting for? We cannot quit for you, but we will stand right behind you as you face the challenge! You are not in this alone, but you must take the first step. You must start the journey. When you are ready, you can do this.

I quit smoking on March 26th, 2009. I smoked a pack a day for 25 years. I quit because I began having health issues in my early 40's. I had a TIA and a stroke a few years ago. I work as a home delivery salesperson.
