At some point between 12:00 noon and 1:40 today (I don't have my SilkQuit on this computer, and I quit in Central time, live in Eastern time...it's complicated, so I don't know the exact time), I entered the QUAD SQUAD!!! Hooray!!!
I'm not a huge milestone person, but this one makes me really happy. Maybe because I like "Q"s, or maybe because it is Quite an accomplishment. I've been jonesin' bad, but not for a cigarette but for my comma!
I missed out on my toast to the EXers, I'm sorry, guys. I really wanted to post a smiley pic holding a mimosa or something. The place I wanted to go for brunch said it opened at 10, and then the brunch sign out front said brunch started at 11, and we had a noon bus back. The woman who was arriving at 10am told us that the cook comes at 11, and we can come in, if we want, but it won't be very nice for a bit as she sets up. And I said, "Just so you know, the Internet says you open at 10." And she said, "Oh, well, we do. For drinks only." What the...? IT'S SUNDAY MORNING. Boozy brunch, okay. Just drinks, not okay.
So we walked for an hour and a half trying to find somewhere else to go. I'm pretty shocked at how hard it was to get a meal in NYC. I cried on 34th Street in frustration, as it started to rain. We wound up at some stupid tourist trap diner near Penn Station, but they had beer on their menu posted out front, so I thought I'd give it a try and ask if I could order one. Not until noon, he said. There went his tip.
Then, we thought we'd go out to dinner when we arrived, but we were using that to get a friend to come pick us up from the bus station, and she wasn't feeling well, and anyway, we're tired. So we just came home.
I do have beer at home, but I'm not dressed right for my photo op. 'Nuff said.
But in 24 years, six months and some change, I'll be ready for my entrance to the...Quin Bin? And I'll plan a little better for it!!!
