Agh.... spoken like a true addict!

So I was talking with my husband last night who (bless his heart) has never smoked a cigarette in his life, thank goodness (he makes a great support system since he hates them so much, he keeps me in line...lol) anyway him and I are taking our little girl up north next weekend to visit his mother. His mother is turning 60 soon and has been an avid smoker for a LONG time now. Everytime he mentions to her that she needs to consider quitting she promptly spews out several lame excuses as to why she isn't "that bad", but then follows it up with "I am going to smoke until they put me in the grave, so you might as well get used to it." This of course upsets and frustrates my husband and I have to remind him that smoking is an addiction, and that nicotine is NO JOKE.

Something she said last night though really took me for a spin....she pulled the ole' "Bill Clinton" and said that SHE DOESN'T INHALE! Bwahahahahahaha! That was the funniest thing I've heard in a long time. She said that when she lights up she draws the smoke into her mouth but does not allow it to go down her throat into her lungs. Apparently she thinks she has that much control over it, when in retrospect it has WAY more control over her  then she cares to admit....that fact alone is painfully obvious. She also said that she had a chest x-ray done not too long ago and they didn't find any cancer so she's ok. We of course reminded her that cancer is only ONE of MANY ailments that plague the body (and soul for that matter) when one is a smoker.

So my question to you guys is this: What are some of the corny and lame excuses you've heard or either offered to other's in defense of one's smoking? Just curious because that "Not Inhaling" one was really a gem.....LMAO!
