were they discovered the same year?  Did the mission end up in the deep....the really deep?  I don't remember, I had children-school-dog-work-housework-extended family-ailing parents syndrome at the time (-:

The Challenger is the one that exploded shortly after takeoff. killing the astronauts.  No idea where it ended up.

A sad FYI regaring the Spaceship Challenger per Wikipedia: Where was the Challenger wreckage found?

All seven crew members were killed. Yesterday NASA confirmed that a piece of the shuttle was recently discovered off the coast of Florida. A documentary crew searching for World War II-era wreckage found the debris on the ocean floor. Nov 11, 2022
