Let's Get Moving Part 3

Jump to solution

'The original idea was to "get moving" at least 4 times a week, staying accountable to each other.  Post your accomplishments in the comments. This is the original blog link if you would like to clarify the guidelines

Let's Get Moving Challenge - EX Community.   Any activity counts, as long as you get off your butt and get your heart pumping.  Who knows, maybe we'll lose a little weight or a couple of inches in the meantime.  I hope placing it in discussions this time will work better than a blog post where there were so many entries and becomes harder to locate.  Let's see if we can keep it on the board often and easy to find.

I believe we got sidetracked when I suggested doing other challenges and those challenges were not conducive to everyone. My fault. Lesson learned.  So I am hoping we can get back to doing what "you" do instead of a specific routine.  Got it?.   In the previous post, there were a lot of comments to go through to come up with this list of who participated.  Hopefully, it will catch on again.  Of course, sometimes we got off topic which can happen.  This post really kept me motivated and we had a lot of fun while learning a lot from each other with over 2519 comments on the first blog and 1072 Let's Get Moving 2018 - EX Community  on second blog comments. So let's Get Moving Part 3!

We are killing it today, though, I almost died! I set out for a 10 mile run, I only did 8. It was rather warm and I just didn't have the juice this evening

SO glad you survived!  It is supposed to cool down on Thursday - going to be in the upper 90's in MD tomorrow....so I will be lying low!!!  If it's that bad where you all are running, might I recommend early AM or tomorrow evening???

I hemmed and hawed about the run this afternoon. I went back and forth about doing a shorter run or not running at all. I tell myself I'm going to get up early and go for my run, then I just snooze through my alarms! The temperature is supposed to drop tomorrow in Illinois, we will be back to typical fall weather, so I'll have a reprieve until winter (I'll run into the teens, but never in the single digits, I did that one time!)

I've done later in the evening and have a treadmill at my disposal if I must but that is a last resort. We are somewhat remote, and the way my runs usually start off is right past a small cemetery. It gets creepy in the dark. Due to the remoteness, there aren't any street lights, sidewalks, or nearby trails. If the dog could go more than 3 miles, I would be more comfortable in the dark. We have done shorter runs in the dark together.

Big ole Army guy, afraid of the dark and not able to get up early (though I can when I have to). Bet you probably never thought you would hear that!

Stuck in No Woman's Land.  Sometimes I feel like Sisyphus.  Two inches up, 8 inches down.  HOURS on the phone with drug insurance company, and idiots in the doctors offices who prescribe the same thing to two different pharmacies, one of which you told them NOT to use, so the one you WANT to use you can't get the drug from because the drug company thinks it's "too soon to order...".  Requesting a referral to a specialist over a week ago and hearing NOTHING.  Calling again and the woman said, she put the request AGAIN for my doctor to sign...   Being locked out of the insurance web site, having to call tech and reset the password.... meanwhile what a waste of life.  This amount of time doing CRAP that if people just paid attention and DID THEIR JOBS CORRECTLY...!!!

VENTING.  No exercise.  94 again today.  The only exercise is the mental effort of trying to keep myself from Vesuvious eruptions.

But there was five minutely of pure hilarity, thank God, during the day when I was at Ace Hardware purchasing a garden hose replacement end.  I was inquiring about the best way to put it on and said "I suppose I should put the hose in warm water first, to soften it up.."  The man behind the counter said, "yup, might not be a bad idea."  I said,  "What about using some vaseline?"  I, unfortunately can't remember his exact response but it had to do with something about men and sex.  The woman, missing a few front teeth behind the counter (was it his wife, maybe?) gave him a look like:  "I can't BELIEVE you actually said that!" I burst out laughing.  I don't know what was funnier, his response or the look she gave him.  But it just degenerated from there.  I moved onto female lubricants, he laughed, said "I like you,"  I laughed said, "I like you too."  Went on to hemorrhoid cream... I mean we were having a blast in there.  I said, "If it doesn't work can I bring it back?"  "NO!"  (And of course he was kidding.)  Made my entire day!  I'm going to keep that couple in the back of my mind in case I'm having a bad day.  Sometimes life is actually FUN!  Fortunately we were alone in the shop, God only knows how others might have perceived it!  I'm still laughing about it.  I hope they are too.

Good for you, Jackie, for taking on Cocoa.  That's definitely life-changing and you are very noble and loving to do so.  And your grand kids will be so happy to see her when they come visit.  That's sad that they had to give her up.  You're a good Grandma!

If none of what they suggested works.  Try a little dishwashing liquid.  Lubricates just about anything. I forgot where I learned it.  Anyway, it was a good interaction for you and thanks for sharing your funny bone.

It is wonderful moments in my day to be alive and enjoying my day with attitude of gratitude in-between the storms of my grief missing my momma knowing that I am not alone today
