We learned in a previous blog that the Great American Smokeout was actually not a motivator for people to quit even though the numbers coming to the site increases. Some of those who responded to my blog actually said it caused more stress and prevented them from quitting.

If you’ve come here today to start your journey to quit, Great, we’re glad you’re here!  If today isn’t your day and you feel too pressured, avoid increasing your daily number of cigarettes and plan for a day in the future to start your Quit Journey.

If you’ve registered today for the Great American Smokeout, tell us how you got here today in the comments.

Mark do you mean that we have had more sign up to this site today?  I am amazed at the number of new members that we have here each day - but most of them are not active at all.

Smokers do not care about a "smoke out" .  It is a personal decision. in my opinion, you should tell the stories of people that have died from smoking. I quit because of the lady up the road that died. Even though it was not smoking related, it was afwul.

Welcome KJay!

@Jennifer

Yes we have an increase in people signing up at this time every year. I'm curious how they found out about us. As always there are very few from all that sign up who actually become active by way of posting something. Some just come to read.

@Thats_it

Thanks for the feedback. I agree it does seem to be a personal decision as I found out in my previous blog.
