About Me:
I have been a smoker since I lit up at the age of 14, in August 1964, on a beach in Bermuda, having stolen my first cigarette, a Raleigh filter, from my Aunt. I looked out over the beautiful ocean and thought "I am so sophisticated, worldly, daring and grown up". I believe that the Rebel aspect of smoking, especially thumbing my nose at my parents (who were both passionate smokers till their last breaths) amd being sneaky were great attractions for me. The Rebel has also been fed by my use several sources of nicotine at the same time -patch, gum, lozenge - all while smoking. The Rebel would like some wise, kind and gentle redirection. Today I will give it loving redirection, as I would to a scared, insecure, angry, sad, floundering 14 year old. I commit to surrendering self-abuse related to nicotine addiction: 5/9/08
