I have 2 fantastic children, a boy and a girl, and an equally fantastic wife. I'm trying to quit smoking again - for myself as well as my family and my budget - God - $4.09 a pack for Basic cigarettes!!! I am sarcastic to a fault and I loves me that way. I'm not afraid to admit I make fun of others because of my own insecurities. I mean what the hell, if it makes me laugh, and I can do it at your expense, it's all the better. Especially if I can make other people laugh at you. I'm into computers, a very amateur keyboardist, composer, and bassist.

Music & Thoughts at Random

If you know me, there’s no doubt you know I love music, and I m highly critical of it at the same time. Some songs give me chills (in a good way), whether it s the lyrics, or chord progression, guitar, drum, bass, don’t know, can’t describe it exactly. For example, Alanis Morissette’s “Uninvited” has that effect on me as well as Duran Duran's “Love Voodoo;” the chord progression between guitar and keyboards, I think. Some songs just move me in various ways, lyrically or by just the music.

I have some songs on MySpace that I really like, not all are there mind you. Some I can’t find, some I’ve listened to countless times over my life and have gotten tired of. If there was a TV channel devoted to producing music, I'd be watching it all the time. I like to feel the music as well as hear it, which in addition to ear infections when I was a kid, resulted in some hearing loss.

I'm currently a keyboardist, which is my hobby I’m looking for equipment so that I can start recording. I don’t have classical training; I have very little training if any. I know the notes of the keyboard, but make up my own chords, since I don’t know real chords. I am trying to learn them though. There are some progressions that you need to know in order to play along with some songs, which is what I do most often. I don’t have the dexterity of a pianist. I rely on sequencers for the most part; difficult parts and I play the chords for the rest of the song. With the time that I have, I try to train myself on more complex skills. I think I have a fine motor skill problem in my fingers.

Off the patch today!

Sorry it's been so long since I've been on - had internet issues. Ended up getting cable/phone/internet package after all was said and done. Well this is my first official day as a Ex, no patches today. Yesterday was the last day on the patch. So far so good. Has it been 8 weeks already? It's gone by so fast. Stan

Thanks for the encouraging words and support everyone. I greatly appreciate it. Since my "slip-up" I still haven't smoked, continued with my patch, and my cravings have been very small.

Slip-up

Well we had a minor slip-up a couple days ago. The stress was too much. I bought a pack of cigarettes before work. Attempted to smoke one, only got a quarter of the way through. Wasn't the pleasurable experience I remember. More like when I first started smoking - holding the smoke in an attempt to control my natural reaction to cough. I LOVE my job

I don't know what it is exactly. The more stressed I get at work, the more I want a cigarette. Just rip the patch off and start smoking again. Then I take a deep breath and continue working until the urge hits yet again 5 minutes later. Thankfully I don't have this kind of urge at home. I work in retail putting out freight on the floor among other things with one other person, and we went from 400 cases every Mon/Wed to 800 and 900 (cases, doesn't count items inside) because of "back to school."…

Week 3 and Counting

Three weeks! Though not temptation free. Yes I've wanted to smoke, even seriously thought about starting smoking again. Work is stressful right now. I work overnights locked in a building and it seems that I think about smoking more at work than at home. I used to smoke less at work and more at home. Well monkey man as a fellow "keyboardist" I know you can do it! My quit date is tommorow and I'm sure that I will be pound on those pearly plastic keys.
Actually, I play the Theatre Pipe Organ and I work by day as a hammer specialist for pianos and music is the icing on top.
