Thanks. I'm a bit scared of the med too. I did use about a year ago. Really took away cravings. But we did it for a month and started smoking again. My husband is not quitting with me. Bothered me ... Read More »

I did gain about 10 lbs. Working now to get them off. The weather's getting better, so I can get out and do more. One battle at a time. The main one was smoking, now on to other projects while keeping the main goal in place.

I started Chantix right after Christmas and I quit on Jan.1.
For me the thinking about the quit date was the scariest. The actual quit was easier than I had expected (compared to past attempts). I was completely off of Chantix at about 2 months.
Don't put it off until after the canoe trip. The trip isn't until the end of July. If you get started now, you could be over 2 months quit by then. Don't wait. You can take pills with you on your trip even easier than having to take along the smoking supplies. You will feel so much better.
Let me know how you're doing,
Pat
I quit w/ Chantix and am now at 132 days smoke free. My husband did not quit at the same time as me, he continued smoking. I used a lot of candles and air freshener during that time ( along with coughing and gagging - the smell of smoke was like concentrated bus fumes to me) He started going down to the basement but I could still smell it. Little did I know at the time, but he was watching me closely. He was figuring that if I could do it maybe he could too. He is now smoke free as well ( he's at 83 days)
You need to quit for YOU! He may follow. If he does, great, if not maybe he will in the future.
Best of Luck,
Pat
