I'm kidding; I won't give in! 23 days would be wasted. The hard part's over, right? Supposedly, you're body overcomes the physical addiction within 72 hours, the rest is psychological and emotional - but I bet the experts who came up with those stats never hit a Marlboro Light 100 (in the box, please)! I'm still missing it sooo bad and have been using everything and anything to replace it. Hall's cough drops aren't bad, but if anyone out there has a better idea, please share!!!
do not give up now is right, you have done the hardest work. right now you just have to deal with your junkie mind set. stay busy doing something, maybe something you have always wanted to try but never did. not smoking gives you time you never had before. go fill it. stained glass class, a painting class, yoga. go get a massage or a pedi. go reward yourself with something fun for your heard work. start seeing the pay off. I loved brach's cinnamon disks yummy. congrats on your quit you are doing great
Hula's right. Get busy & don't sit around moping about poor me. Congratulations on getting through the roughest part but there's still a lot to learn. Read as much as you can about what we go through especially the mental end of it. That Nico-Demon is a tricky bugger so education will be key. You're doing great, keep it up.
Hear, hear, Mike! I'm not worried about slipping; just getting through the side-effects part of this. I'll be alright and I'm sure I'll make it. Thanks for your kind words and advice!
Kim
How about you take the money you would have spent on cigarettes and buy yourself something you really want or normally wouldn't get for yourself? You deserve a treat for all your hard work! Oh, I like sunflower seeds in the shells for a replacement. It occupies both your mouth and your hands.
I'm saving up for some plastic surgery to undo the damage years of smoking has caused. Just kidding! Actually, I'm buying myself a long, over-due bike - a combo gift for Mother's Day and for quitting. Not only will my hands be occupied, but my body will be too, plus - have you ever tried smoking while riding a bike?!! Un-uh!!! Doesn't work! Lots of success and well wishes to you!
But do something smaller than a bike make yourself a pact to yourself your gonna do one small thing every single week you make it.. Funny thing I did when I quit the cigs. I fell in love with elephants. Its true. There is a website (omg did it keep me busy) its called www.elephants.com. They rescue these elephants from horrid working lives and they get to spend there last years in psuedo retirement. Each elephant has their own page etc etc. Anyways (i babble too :D), I spent WEEKS on this site reading every single story and learning the elephants and watching them on webcams. Then I was so in love with them ... I would take my quit money and donate enough to feed them. It wasn't much... but thats the kinda thing I mean. WHATEVER new hobbies or life things come at you, reward yourself with it. I have an entire shelf full of elephants (stuffed and carved) now as my rewards :)
Thats what I am talking about. Your doing something so wonderful for yourself make sure you DO SOMETHING wonderful as a reward that you can SEE and touch. :) Its important.
Wow! You're my kind of Hero! What an incredibly kind and generous heart you have! I love animals, too; the zoo will always remain one of my favorite childhood memories. My grandmother was into giraffes and my grandfather - elephants! So we don't just have quitting smoking in common! I hope, however, you have been kind and generous to yourself, too? Don't forget - if you hadn't quit, those elephants wouldn't have had your gifts - which means you should be doubly spoiling yourself!
Take care - hope to hear from you again soon - I like you're aura!
and your gorgeous you don't need plastic surgery :) But that habit sure does its job on us doesn't it !! I totally know what you mean. THE GOOD news is... your skin, your taste, your smell, etc... it all gets so much better when you stop smoking. I have the softest skin in arizona fyi :D
(watch all the arizona ppl come argue) ;)
YOUR DOING GREAT kim. Keep doing it!
