I am teaching the women at one of the organizations I volunteer at how to crochet. There are always new members coming in so while some of the women have a lot of the basic stitches down, there are always women who need to start from the very, very beginning. It can get a little hard to balance working with a little more advanced students and those who have never touched a crochet hook before. I always pray that I might approach everyone with joy, compassion, patience and enthusiasm. This Tuesday we are going to start learning how to do some granny squares for a handbag pattern I have. I've never done this before so I tried making one. In this picture are some of the elements of the handbag. I have the backing on all the pieces and now I've just got to put it together. Just wanted an example to show the women. In the class I will do another one alongside my students with different colors and larger.

Just finished this one, it is 4 foot square. I still need to block it to get the shape perfectly square. Keeping my hands busy is still a valuable tool for me on this quit journey. (Should I be adding these pictures to old posts or is it OK to create a new post each time I want to share my latest craft? I am not always sure of online etiquette!!)

Hello my name is Ricky. I live in Burlington nc and I have a pack of motivation. I use to live in my car for 4 years so that causes me to smoke due to stress. I'm also 4 years clean from shooting up meth. Smoking is now my cover up to stop me from drug cravings. But I'm ready to stop but I can't seem to figure it out. Please what should I do.

After having quit smoking, or vaping, does anyone else have a lot of nervous energy? I have been a crafter for a very long time but now I find in my after quitting life it is more essential than ever that I keep busy--with my hands, with my mind, etc. It feels good that the byproduct of keeping busy is a finished craft, but more importantly is the calm I feel while being busy with something. Here is my latest, not perfect, but I am improving--a 45 inch square throw I made for my brother as a late Christmas gift. It will be ready for shipping later this week after I weave in all of the ends.
