Hi, everyone.

I stumbled onto this website today.  I decided yesterday to put a patch on this morning, and after coffee 2 cigs and a shower, I did just that.  It's been about nine hours since my last cig.  I am in the throes of cravings, mild hallucinations, shoveling food in my face, fatigue, and all of the other super fun side effects of some physical and all psychological withdrawl.

It's good to see so many of you are here and smoke-free!  I hope I can learn from you all.

I started at smoking at 14; I'm now 41.  I have quit multiple times, the longest being for 5+ years during which time I became a novice triathlete.  I generally need to be training to keep away from the cigs.  Quitting sucks, but it's the staying quit that gets me every time.  I run right back to it.  Sometimes a night out drinking brings me back (even after months of drinking socially without smoking).  However, this time was different...

I quit smoking for about 11 months - I was vaping, but able to work out.  My lungs were much happier and I was slowly weening off the nicotine levels.  Then my dog died and I bought a pack.  That was last August.  I was transitioning back to vaping in March when my father died.  And that was that.

Now I'm trying to pick myself up again.  Ski season is coming and it will be so much better if I can breathe!  I chose today because I have some business travel coming up next month, and I may as well quit before I'm stuck on a plane dying for a cig.  So, today became the day.

It's been rough, but I've made it through the work day.  I wanted to leave hours ago and climb into bed.  I couldn't focus for most of the day and my productivity is in the toilet, but that's part of that first three days, right?  Ugh.  Hurry up, Friday.
