Romancing the Cigarette

As we begin a new season, some of us (even long term quitters) can begin to "romance the cigarette."  We remember being in a special place, perhaps with a special person, all was right with the world, and we felt at peace.  The memory includes smoking a cigarette because, well, we pretty much always had one in hand, didn't we?

The thing is - that moment had not a thing to do with smoking!!  It was a time and place that was special to us, and it included smoking  because everything in those days did.  BUT - it is the MOMENT, not the cigarette,  that  we want to recreate.

Go ahead and recreate that moment in a new way.  Smoking is NOT required!

I smoked until a vascular surgeon informed me of the damage I had done to myself by doing so. I quit 11 years ago, and I can swim laps virtually FOREVER now, walk most other days 40 minutes to an hour and a half. What a difference quitting has made in my life! I strive to help others find this wonderful freedom from addiction, too.
