I need to ask for some prayers for my 18 year old granddaughter, Ellen. She has been sick for a few days now, seen in doctor’s office once, urgent care twice, and no diagnosis other than possible influenza. She also has severe conjunctivitis which they are treating as of the THIRD visit. Right now, she is in the emergency room where they started an IV on her and did another rapid strep test, it was negative. I am not a fan of rapid strep tests and I don’t know anyone who has worked in medicine who is, they are almost invariably negative and should always be followed by a complete test that is incubated. In any event, she has had two negative tests, one was sent out by the doctor’s office but they are closed now so there is no way to get results. Her temperature in the ER went from 99.2 to 102 with motrin and IV’s. She is having severe chills, this is a very athletic young woman who does not surrender for anything. The doctors are stumped, they are thinking it could be meningitis. PLEASE say prayers for her. PLEASE don’t let anything happen to her…my poor daughter is beside herself, she had to go to work this morning but is leaving there now to go to the ER. They live in NY and I live in Virginia...I would give anything to be able to be there to support them but I can't take off and go there.
QUICK UPDATE, they have not done the spinal tap yet, they are still waiting for the rapid flu results...rapid??? They just gave her morphine because her head and neck hurt so much. Wow, this is awful.
Thank you all for the prayers. I know they are helping.
