D.N.A.

A friend of mine made a resolution to change her relationship with food. She was inspired by a snippet of wisdom that said: Food is not just calories, it’s information. It talks to our D.N.A., and tells it what to do.

Can I repeat that? Food is not just calories, it’s   information. It   talks to our D.N.A., and   tells it what to do.

Whoa. Honestly, that changed how I think about food, too!

But, this is   EX, so what if we applied this same wisdom to our mission here?

Perhaps we could consider this: A cigarette is not just an object, it’s   subliminal information. It whispers to the D.N.A. of our   addicted mind, and   prompts it to react.

Let’s take it a step further: Smoking is not just an inhalation, it’s   active disinformation. It lies to the D.N.A. of our   body, and   corrupts how we’re supposed to live and function.

Now, open your mind to this: Quitting is not just a single decision, it’s   continuous instruction. It teaches to the   emotional D.N.A. of our soul; it   generates a new spiritual strength; and it   conditions our mind to embrace our unfolding recovery.

Each single victory within a courageous quit becomes part of the “genetic code” of that quit. And, so does every mistake. The good news is that every quitter has control over exactly what gets stacked into their quit.

So, are you   nourishing your quit’s D.N.A. with   honest information? With   healthy support? Are you   accepting the truths of your addiction, and   believing in the joys of your recovery? Are you reacting with   self-respect? Are you  protecting your life-saving choices

As an   EX, you   can “rewrite the D.N.A.” of your future. It’s as possible for you as it was for me two years ago. I simply made up my mind to stop repeating the same ol’ dead-end “code” that failed me in the past, and  I started believing that there had to be something greater within myself, for myself.

I found mine, and there’s a new “code” waiting for you, too.

Earn it!  Accept it!   Respect it!   Protect it!
