New Year, New Me!

Hi everyone,

I am sure I am not the only one who picked January 1 to become a non-smoker but here we are!  I am excited about the idea of having a community to support my quit.  We can all help each other.  No matter the day or time!  I am using the patch to help me.  I started on the 14 mg patch as I was not a pack-a-day smoker.  A bit of history.  I was raised in a home where my parents smoked.  My siblings smoked, my aunts and uncles smoked.  The worst of it being that my father was a physician!  Of course, that was in the '60s.  People started to stop smoking.  That was good!  My siblings (except one sister) continued to smoke.  I lost my brother 5 years ago to lung cancer.  All it took was one month from diagnosis to death.  It was horrible.  It did not, however, make me stop smoking - nor my other siblings.  This is an absolute addiction!  I wish there were physical places we could go to meet with other people trying to quit, like AA has, but I can't find any.  This site is our place to "go" to for support and help.  I hope I can keep it up.  Actually, let me replace "hope" with "will" with your help.
