A Little Help

Several years ago I took my Mother on an overnight gambling trip to Tunica, Mississippi.  She loved to play video poker.  This was my Christmas present to her that year.  It was special because we didn't have a lot growing up and didn't really get to go on vacations.  My sister went with us.

I got adjoining rooms with a hot tub in the room.  My Mother had not been able to take a bath in years because she could not get herself out of the tub so she had taken only showers.  I assured her that if she wanted to take a long hot bath, that my sister and I would be able to get her out of the tub.

She thoroughly enjoyed her bath but when it came time to  get her out - she was dead weight.  I laughed and told her that if she did not help just a little, that I would be forced to call 911 and have all those good-looking men get her out of that tub - we laughed and together with her help,  on the count of 3 - we were able to lift her out of the tub.

This is a lot like quitting - we are all here to help but it takes effort on your part too.  The combined efforts of several make the job so much easier!

I am a 63 year old single woman. I quit smoking at 55 and my only regret is that I did not quit sooner. Freedom from cigarettes is truly a wonderful feeling!
