Starting Today, Then One Day At A Time

I was an ex smoker, and by that I mean I had been a smoker and had quit for over 20 years then I started somking again. I never have lost the desire to smoke in all those years. I went through a divorce this year, and picked up a ciggarette during a stressful time, and now more than a year later I am still smoking. Today I quit again. I have been trying to quit for the last 3 months, but I have not been successful. I am using a nicotine patch, which helps. It doesn't totally take away the desire to smoke, but I don't feel like I am going crazy for a smoke. I am also not feeling well today. Coughing my head off, so that is a big motivater today. I hate how I feel since I started smoking again. I have put on weight as well, so that makes it worse. I work in the medical field, so it makes it so much more stupid that I am smoking. I had one ciggarette this morning, threw my pack away and slapped on a patch.

I live with my boyfriend, who is a smoker as well. This is concerning me, because I have a hard time with cravings when he is smoking. He smokes outside, so I just need to get busy and do something to distract myself when he is smoking, so I won't dwell on it. He wants to quit too, so I am hoping if I quit it will help him quit as well.

I am trying to have the mindset, of one day at a time. So far that's helping. I am going to do it this time. I'm glad I found this site. I think it will help me.
