My last cigarette was December 4, 2014 at 6:30 am.  With accomplishment comes courage.

Tuesday afternoon I had a heated discussion with my boss.  I tried to leave after saying "ok, I'll do it your way", but she didn't like the look on my face and called me back into her office, told me to close the door, and proceeded to tell me where I was wrong.  Then her boss joined us and we were asked - again - to communicate better and determine which method is best.  I left 30 minutes late.  First thing this morning I get an email from my boss saying:  "This does not look right to me.  How can it be a “B” file if you did not review it yesterday at all?  Plus the file has additional records in it that has been deleted???"

And my response was:  " I followed your procedure where I don’t highlight the routes in the long document including the inventory.  I didn’t see the extra records.  I did “b” to indicate checking them this morning, instead of yesterday.   But don’t worry,  here’s my resignation.  I’m done with the petty."

Pepsi-Cola of Central Va decided to make it effective immediately, so, after 25 years, 11 months and 28 days,  I am no longer employed by Pepsi-Cola.   I will greatly miss all the people at Pepsi but one.  I will miss the work terribly.  But, after driving home yesterday afternoon wondering which tree to run my car into (which would be my substitute for slowly killing myself with cigarettes), I had to do something different.  I toughed it out with this supervisor for 13 years.  I tried repeatedly to take other vacant positions in the company.  I give up.  I have nothing left to try.

When one door closes, another opens.  I'm hoping one that brings appreciation, consideration, and personal positive growth is through the new door.  Because of the social stigmatism associated with smoking now, I would not have had the courage or believed in myself enough, to make this step.  A HUGE THANK YOU TO THE EX COMMUNITY FOR HELPING ME THROUGH THE LAST 9 MONTHS!  I couldn't have done it without you!
