Got back from my trip to Berlin & Rome a few days ago - had a great time!!! One thing I definitely noticed was that there are smokers EVERYWHERE! While it is not encouraged..... it is definitely not DIScouraged! I saw nothing to indicate the advocacy of quitting or not smoking. The cost is right around $8.00 per pack or so (from what I could tell) and the packs were much shorter in length. I noticed ashtrays on every table at every restaurant.
I even had a conversation with a man who was smoking and rationalizing "Smoking is bad... really bad. But not as bad as drinking" (He was doing both) We went to visit his newly purchased Pub at his request. It was very nice of him to buy all of our drinks, but I could not stand the smell of my clothes afterward. I felt sorry for him and all the other people I saw smoking.
I was so proud of myself - even as I was struggling to keep up with all the walking. I realized in a big way how out of shape I am and I have vowed to correct that.
All that said.... The sights and experience were awesome!!!! I especially enjoyed meeting my cousin in person for the first time... along with her family. I feel blessed!!
I will toss my unsmoked cancer sticks in the bonfire this weekend!! Freedom comes in many forms!!!
