Hello!  Day 8 is here and it's a gorgeous, sunny day in Southern California to be smoke-free.  What a gift to wake up early and savor the sunshine.  What a gift not to have to sneak around the block and hide behind some random tree to light up feeling like a teenage hooligan!  What a gift to be in the same house as my mother and feel available to help, to listen, to give and receive.  I feel blessed to be smoke-free and my lungs feel strong and clear.

Full disclosure:  I'm drinking a bit more caffeine to help with my headaches but I'm drinking lots more water as well.  You know, just for today, if I have a Diet Coke or 2.... I'll take it.  I've never been much of a more- than-two-cups-of-coffee-a-day kinda person so I think it'll be alright.

Wow, it also felt empowering to get on a plane (which, we had to deplane because of a part issue!), be delayed at a crowded airport for 3 whole hours, be picked up by my very lovely but anxious mother after travellling for 12.....go through dinner with her and then come back to my childhood home ALL without experiencing a desire to light up. Now ,these are all very ordinary experiences but they are certainly things that in the past I needed to smoke before, during, or after.

This is truly miraculous that I emerged smoke-free.  The power of group support/prayer/good intentions really works. I don't think I would be here right now without this site and the active community.

So a huge and heartfelt MERCI to you all.  Happy Dia de Ocho for me! It's getting better.:)
