Did I ever tell you about Aunt Lucy? I used to spend two weeks every summer at Aunt Lucy and Uncle Harpel's farm! They were hard working people, who had very strong faith! Aunt Lucy was a Lady who symbolized no-nonsense, good common sense! If you did not want to hear the truth, you better not ask Aunt Lucy! She would tell it EXactally like it was, and if that hurt your feelings, she was really, honestly, sorry! She was not trying to hurt you, but she knew that lying to you would hurt you more!
Aunt Lucy only gave birth to one child! It was stillborn. I remember going with her to tend the childs grave! So, while she had no children of her own, all the children that she knew were hers! And, you better not pick on them, or hurt them! She made my sisters school clothes, and never failed to show up with a cake on our birthday's! Of course she made the cakes from scratch! If there was something going on, good or bad, Aunt Lucy was there! For most of my life she was the only person who's opinion mattered to me! I never wanted to disappoint Aunt Lucy!
Five Years ago today a Lady that I often call Aunt Lucy quit smoking! And, some weeks later when I quit she was here to help me through rough spots in my quit! You know, I don't know if Sootie ever struggled with her quit! She was just here passing out good common sense! I do not remember a single time that she complained about how hard it was! But, she was there to tell you that she knew how hard it was for you! And she knew that you could do it! However, if you could not handle the truth, you better not ask her! Cause she was not going to lie to you, or for you!
Sootie has two children, but she also is the director of many child care centers! 10?? I am willing to bet that like Aunt Lucy, all those children are hers! And, you better not pick on them, or hurt them! In the process of my quit, Sootie has shown up for every occasion, good or bad! She is one of a very few people who's opinion matters to me! And, I never want to disappoint Aunt Lucy Sootie!
