Freedom Fighter

Hi.  So glad to be here and trying something different.  Just joined the Community yesterday and set a quit date of September 15th.  Just found this group today.  I've been fighting my own freedom from cigarettes for a very long time.  It's crazy the hundreds of ways and the number of times I have sabotaged my own freedom.  I have only been here for a couple of days, but I am finding that the underlying concept that the free seem to share is commitment - and that is very reassuring to me.  It's the one thing I really haven't ever tried yet where it comes to cigarettes.  I am building myself a stong base of commitment to this course of action and layering it with the tools that I am going to use when the commitment wears thin.  Wish me luck.  Thanks for being here to share the journey.

Welcome to our community!

No luck involved in quitting smoking!!  It is preparation (education), planning, and commitment to not smoke again NO MATTER WHAT!  This CAN be your forever quit.

The most important thing you can do right now is to educate yourself on what nicotine does to your body and mind. To that end, I highly recommend Allen Carr's “The Easy Way to Stop Smoking.” This is an easy and entertaining read. Here is a link to a free PDF version of it:

As well, read the sections on this site, and read the blogs, responses and pages of folks you think might be helpful. You might visit whyquit.com and quitsmokingonline.com for the good information contained there, Do the tracking and separation exercises outlined on this site.

After you have completed the readings, it will be time to make your informed quit plan, including what quit aid , if any, you will use, and the crave busters you think will work for you. Then you can approach your quit day with a plan in place.

Stay close to us here; ask questions as you have them and for support when you need it. We will be with you every step of the way.

Welcome.  May I suggest an easy reading from jonescarp aka dale's page.  He responded up a couple posts.  Just press on his cat and start reading.  It will mentally prepare you for your upcoming journey.  I read it once a week whether I need it or not.  Once I read it twice to get threw a crave/memory of smoking.
